Co-hosted by DPI and the Irish Embassy in Ankara, this Peace Table brought together a remarkable group of women from across Türkiye’s political, diplomatic, legal, media, and civil society spheres to reflect on women’s pivotal roles in conflict resolution and peacebuilding. Inspired by the experience of the Northern Ireland Women’s Coalition (NIWC), participants engaged with keynote speaker Avila Kilmurray, co-founder of the NIWC, and watched the documentary Wave Goodbye to Dinosaurs, which charts the NIWC’s groundbreaking work during the Northern Ireland peace process. Discussions highlighted how women’s shared experiences, values, and grassroots leadership can bridge even deep political divides and create new pathways for dialogue. Attendees reflected on how these lessons could inspire innovative approaches to addressing the Kurdish issue and advancing broader reconciliation efforts in Türkiye, recognising the need for inclusive, cross-community cooperation.
