DPI ONLINE ASSESSMENT MEETING ‘THE CURRENT SITUATION IN TURKEY: POTENTIAL IMPLICATIONS ON A POSSIBLE PEACE PROCESS’, 24 JUNE 2021

On 24 June, DPI held an online assessment meeting entitled ‘The Current Situation In Turkey: Potential Implications On A Possible Peace Process’. The meeting brought as a key speaker Oral Çalışlar, who is a journalist, writer, and commentator. Oral Çalışlar presented his assessment on into the relevance of past, current and future developments in Turkey, speaking from his own experience of working on human rights and freedom of expression. As an author of more than 20 books and a member of the Wise People Committee, Oral Çalışlar provided highly relevant assessments and evaluations on the objectives, obstacles and possibilities that Turkey faces in a current, increasingly polarized human rights environment. This was followed by a productive discussion between participants, who engaged with the speaker on the current dynamics in Turkey.
