The Democratic Progress Institute (DPI) organised a comparative study visit in Dublin from 31 October to 2 November 2025 with the participation of members of parliament from the Commission on National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy.
The event attracted significant media attention and was covered in numerous media outlets, including Anka News Agency, Bianet, BirGün, Diken, Evrensel, Independent Türkçe, İlke TV, Karar, Kısa Dalga, Rudaw, T24, and Yeniçağ, among others.
In his column published on 4 November 2025, Aytuç Erkin of Nefes newspaper discussed the key takeaways of the event after speaking with two MPs who took part in the visit. The MPs emphasised that the discussions highlighted the importance of leadership and persistance in the face of challenges, as well as the need to complement security policies with political and civil initiatives throughout peace processes.
Another MP who attended the event stated in an interview with Barış Balseçer of Yeni Özgür Politika newspaper that the Northern Ireland experience could offer valuable lessons for Türkiye — particularly in terms of participatory political mechanisms, strengthening local governance, and safeguarding cultural rights. The insights shared during the event provided a constructive example that could positively contribute to Türkiye’s dialogue and non-violent conflict resolution efforts.
